Much like my Narrowing Down My TV Shows post, I figured I should probably do the same for my movie watchlist as I have a lot of movies on my watchlist. Too many in fact which is why I’m narrowing them down in the first place. I have way too many movies I want/need to watch, so cutting out the fat from my watchlist is necessary. Especially since with a lot of movies, I tend to add them to my watchlist for their premise, forget about them, and then I’m no longer interested in them. So let’s cut some fat.
According to Letterboxd, I have 281 movies in my watchlist. Quite honestly, there are more movies I’m planning on watching that aren’t even on my watchlist. For an example, I plan on watching Deadpool 2, but that isn’t on my watchlist. Just something to keep in mind. So my watchlist number is probably higher than that, but let’s go with movies that I actually placed on watchlist just to make things easier for myself. Here’s all the movies on my watchlist…

That’s a total of 44 movies being cut, which leaves my watchlist at 237 movies opposed to 281. Still quite a lot of films I’m planning on watching, but I feel good about the number of films I cut. Once again if there is any movie I cut that you think I shouldn’t, tell me I’ll add it back. Likewise if you think there’s a movie I should cut that I kept on my watchlist, tell me. I might cut it, we’ll see, maybe…

I definitely have to suggest re-adding The Sixth Sense. It is, by far, M. Night Shyamalan’s best film and features incredible performances from Bruce Willis, Haley Joel Osment, and Toni Collette. I rewatched it at some point last year and had really forgotten how moving certain scenes are. They had me in tears a couple times. Maybe I was in a weird head space… I don’t know…
I also want to suggest giving Tag a chance. It’s not changing the cinematic landscape, but it’s a lot of fun.
Honorable Mentions: Philadelphia (Tom Hanks won best actor that year for a reason); Heartbreakers (but only because of my undying love for Jennifer Love Hewitt); The Blair Witch Project (mostly responsible for “found footage” horror)

My fear with The Sixth Sense simply was I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy the movie as much knowing the twist. But, I’m glad to hear it’s worth watching even with knowing the twist, I will add it back and the others I will reconsider.

Oh yeah, part of the fun after knowing the twist is seeing if there are clues to the truth throughout.
